Our Passion | A Place for Discovery — Sherratts Wood

Our Passion

We Understand That Finding The Right Balance Of Activities Isn't Always Easy

Your goals and ambitions are as unique as you are, so you need day opportunities that help you achieve them in a way that’s right for you. If you’d like to gain the confidence and independence to do the things that people without a disability take for granted, a visit to Sherratts Wood can help you on your journey.

Support That Is As Individual As You Are

If you have specific needs or require additional support, we have a team of highly-trained professional and motivated staff who are available to support you. Most people attend our day opportunities independently, however, if you reassessed as needing extra support, whether that be in relation to specific tasks or on a ‘one to one’ basis we can provide it, helping to motivate and guide you to achieve your goals.

We Recognise That Everybody Will have Different Ways of Learning

We are committed to supporting individuals in developing their own unique programme of activity.

You may be surprised by the wide range of activities and adult day opportunities on offer when you first attend our day opportunities. In addition to the range of exciting activities, we are also developing a prospectus of accredited courses to help you build up a portfolio of vocational achievement.

Our Staff

Our staffs are experienced and qualified health and social care professionals who also bring a wide range of other skills including PTTLS teaching qualifications and vocational qualifications. We continually invest in training for our staff too, so that we can to provide you with the very best range of services possible.

We take the work of supporting vulnerable people seriously. Although we voluntarily work to the standards set by the Care Quality Commission we have now made a commitment to formally register with the Care Quality Commission. This will mean that our staff will soon be able to provide a range of additional care and support services in your own home.

Our Story

The minibus picks me up from home — without it, I wouldn't be able to get there. After a cup of tea with my friends, we get to choose what activity we want to do. I usually choose to look after the animals and machinery or help to cook lunch. I have made some good friends and coming here has given me lots of confidence. I have got my level 1 horticulture NVQ since coming too!

I get on the minibus which is fun as I get to catch up with my friends on the way! I have learnt a lot since starting here and have also gained qualifications!

I catch the bus by myself to get to Sherratts Wood, I like it because I have made lots of friends. I go out gardening and know how to use all the tools now. I also enjoy exercise and dance, the staff always help me. I enjoy going up to the farm once a week too! I've also gained a level 2 in Food Safety!
